Responders in Kingsport (including the City Kingsport Fire Department and Ambulance Services) carry a map of the Domtar facility. But how do people unfamiliar with the large areas of the mill find you in the unlikely event of an emergency?  Simply put, your ERA #, or Emergency Response AreaERAs are essential for you to know, help to reduce confusion, and make it easier to get help as quickly as possible.

Watch Tom Looney telling his story about complacency and taking the time to stop to think about decisions.

Tom Looney, a lubrication Technician in the Maintenance department. Tom’s story takes place in the Hog Fuel Boiler  Area where he was sweeping dust on the 3rd floor of the Boiler. Tom had swept a 50 gallon bag of saw dust and decided to open a boiler furnace door to throw the material in to get rid of it. As a result, a ~20 foot flame shot out burning Tom on his back and hands.

In this story, Tom shares a timeless lesson that can be applied to your area and that is to stop and think, and it always works out better.
